6 Morning Rituals for Success

I have some large goals in life, mammoth sized if you will. However,  I haven’t always pursued them.

Perhaps it is because I have felt unworthy or “too small” for my BIG dreams to become reality.

Perhaps it is because I had convinced myself that I’m “much to busy” taking care of my three little kids, husband, and helping to provide for my family to pursue them. Let’s be real, being a Momma is hard and time consuming. Some nights, it’s all I can do to simply flop down into my bed like a hog in mud on a hot day! Probably smell like one too.

Whatever the cause, three years ago I had all but given them up on my dreams.

Then, one day, I woke up and realized that I had lost a very big piece of myself in letting them go.

I also realized that they weren’t completely out of my head or heart. In fact, they are often my first thoughts when I wake up.

Three years ago I decided to make a change. Holding back wasn’t an option anymore. I was going to, heart fully in, go for my dreams. My dreams are REAL to me… as tangible as the nose between my eyes.

Some of you may be wondering what those dreams are. I’ll quickly touch on them. One was to start and successful lifetime blog! YAY!

I love life, along with all of them good times and bad. I love the choices we get to make, the people we get to love, the improvements and goals we get to pursue, and those life changing, gut wrenching moments along the way.

I’m all about living life to the fullest, finding balance and continuing on the path of progression… not perfection.

However, life is complicated. Because it is complicated, I dedicate much of my time to finding ways to simplify life, all while not having to “miss out” on what life has to offer.

In my search, I’ve found and am still finding many helpful life hints. I love sharing those “simple life hacks,” or hints, hence the blog.

If I can help you achieve what I’m fighting too, that dadgummit, I’m fulfilling what I set out to do.

Secondly, I’m a songwriter. Mostly country music! I’ve been writing for years, but only pursuing a serious career for the last three years.

It’s a cutthroat industry, difficult to break into. For years I had convinced myself that I wasn’t “good enough” to make it.

Three years ago I threw that FEAR OF FAILURE away and decided to go for it… ludicrous speed ahead!!!!

The steps I’ve made in those three years are not just leaps or bounds, but flights across continents. Never have I dreamed I could be where I am. I still have a long way to go, but I will get there.

I have many others goals, but these two are my focus as of right now. Of course my sweet babies, husband, religious obligations, home life, horses, chickens and health are also goals. But these two are my BIG outlandish, crazy, hair brained, mad as a Hatter goals! After all, the best people are MAD!

Three years ago, after deciding to GO FOR IT, I knew I needed to change some daily habits.

I researched a lot, tried many things, and these are the 6 morning rituals I do EVERY DAY that have helped me exponentially on my path of success!

  1. Wake Up Early:

Rising early is not always easy! Especially when you have toddlers who have to tinkle in the middle of the night (tinkle is not a fitting word. Niagara Falls will suffice), a baby waking you because they are teething, have lost their “binky,” in the narrowest cranny of the crib, or just want a midnight snuggle, and when your husband who insist on watching the Walking Dead just centimeters beside you. Okay, this doesn’t happen all the time… but it has happened.

It’s also not easy to make a habit. But once I learned to ignore the snooze button, eventually not needing my alarm at all, and rise with the sun or even earlier, I was amazed by how much I have been able to accomplish before breakfast.

Of course, in order to wake up early, I’ve had to train myself to go to bed early. Like it says in the Bible; early to bed, early to rise!

2. Drink 20 ounces of Lemon Water:

Our bodies need water! Water is one of the best ways to fight fatigue. Add a little lemon to it, and SHAZAAM!

Lemon water aids digestion and helps with detoxification. It can also help relieve indigestion or ease an upset stomach.

Lemon’s can also help keep your insulin levels steady and help you get more nutrients from the food you absorb. It is full of antioxidants and vitamin C, giving your body a HUGE good morning immunity boost. Glory Hallelujah!

Here’s another bonus! It helps shed those unwanted pounds. Lemon’s contain pectin and can help you feel full longer.

Gulp it down my Peeps! It can hydrate your body and keep you feeling happy!

“Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof.”

3. Write Down 5 Things you are Grateful For:

I firmly believe in the power of GRATITUDE. Being grateful is, I believe, one of the most powerful positive thinking tools we have! After all, if you are not grateful for what you do have, why would GOD, or the Universe (Wherever you place your beliefs) want to give you more?

There is so much to be grateful for! When we focus on those good things and express deep gratitude and love for them, we are more likely to receive more.

Also, it get’s my mind in a good place. It get’s me thinking “up” instead of “down” on my life.

4. Meditate and Visualize:

I begin every morning by meditating for 5 minutes. Then I follow that by visualizing.

I like to position myself in “Burmese” pose. This is a more basic form of “Lotus.” It is the most comfortable for me.

When I meditate, I like to think of things I am grateful for and then I give myself affirmations. Everyone’s process is different. Some like a certain Mantra. I like Affirmations.

Affirmations can be anything. They can be “I am Strong,” or “I am Success,” or “I am Fearless.” Whatever you want to believe about yourself, tell yourself. It’s my believe that we become what we tell ourselves we are… as well as others can become what we tell them they are. I have an entire post on this HERE.

After I meditate, I do 5 minutes of visualization. This is basically visualizing how you’d like your time to go. It could be for that DAY or how you’d like your next WORKOUT to go! It can be how you’d like to look or act! You can also visualize your DREAMS coming into fruition and what that looks like.

See it! Feel it! I find this get’s me into the mindset to GET TO WORK on it!

5. Exercise:

Studies show that exercising first thing in the morning is the best for your body. It boosts your metabolism first thing, increases you physical and mental energy, promotes better sleep, and most are more likely to stick with an workout plan when they do it first thing in the morning.

I don’t know about you, but working out is the last thing I want to do at the end of the day, when I’m exhausted, covered in peanut butter, banana, and GOODNESS KNOWS what else, and barely able to lift my arms!

I’m not saying that an evening workout isn’t GREAT! Any form of moving that beautiful body God gave you is a good thing! I have simply found so many benefits to working out first thing in the morning.

Plus, it leaves me with more time during the day for my little love muffins! Wait… Did someone say Muffins? I’m clearly post workout.

6. Eat/Drink a protein packed, nutrient filled breakfast:

Post workout, I try to fill my body with goodness. My breakfast of choice is a smoothie. It’s portable, easy to eat/drink, I can pack it full of Mother Nature and protein and it’s refreshing.

I’ll get right down to it, the ingredients I include in my go to smoothie are

  • Water and Ice… Duh
  • Spinach
  • Berries
  • 1 Cutie orange
  • juice of 1 lemon and/or lime
  • 1/2 a banana
  • 1 scoop of Vegetable based protein powder
  • Fossil Shell Flour
  • Coconut Oil

Some of these ingredients may seem strange… particularly the oil and flour. I’ll explain.

Fossil Shell Flour, or Diatomaceous Earth, is an amazing mineral with so many benefits. Read more about it HERE.

Coconut Oil is so good for you. It can even lower the bad cholesterol in your body and, because it’s a good fat, it can keep you full longer.

I vegetable based protein powder because, well… weigh and soy tend to, um… give me the trots. Yea… they just don’t agree with me and apparently I don’t agree with them either. TMI? Lol… sorry bout that.

Thank you for stopping in everyone. I hope these simple morning rituals help you I all your future success!
